When things are tough it makes all the difference to have a good reason to keep going. Something that really matters to you.
In trying to build up my cycling fitness for the impending ride to COP26 in Glasgow for climate change, I undertook my longest training ride - 50 miles to Wiltshire from my home on the Surrey Hampshire border. This is a big mileage for me on my heavy mountain bike with granny legs. I was quite nervous as I don't much like being on roads with traffic -I generally enjoy biking on trails. But I travelled with hardly any weight in the panniers and followed little lanes all the way, and was pleased It only took me 7 hours.
There was one big thought that gave me the strength to not worry about the pain in the knees and to keep going to achieve it. I was going to visit my smallest grandchildren, Jack and Lyra.
When the big 600 miles ride comes starting on 8th October with my 13 yr old granddaughter Elsie and friend Rima, I know we will need incentives to keep us going. One of the main ones will be the purpose of raising funds for our 3 climate action charities:-
1/ PROTECT OUR WINTERS - protecting the world we love from Climate Change(sponsor here)
2/ SUSTRANS - creating a UK-wide safe cycle network (sponsor here)
3/ WWF - Project Tiger Heartlands, saving the tiger from extinction (sponsor here)
Please sponsor us to help keep us going ever onwards... to help our planet keep going ever onwards...
ever onwards...
