I was honoured to meet His Holiness the Karmapa, head of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, following his talk on the importance of protecting the environment of Tibet and the Himalayas.
He himself was born into a nomadic family in natural pristine surroundings in eastern Tibet, before escaping out of the country at the age of 14.
He spoke of the environment as a "field of sacredness" - a reflection of the human self, which is in turn a reflection of the environment.
"Let us emphasise the values of compassion and interdependence to our common Earth and all beings that live on it"
He inspired me to keep working for Tibet and its Himalayan environment, affecting that of the whole planet... And to be the best that I can be...
The field of sacredness...
